Launching Superfile

After months of development and private beta testing, Superfile launched publicly in January 2024. Built as a modern terminal file manager, Superfile was designed from the ground up to give developers a fast, keyboard-driven interface for navigating their file systems — without ever leaving the terminal.

Built for the Developer Community

We released Superfile as fully open-source under the MIT license, with a plugin architecture that allows developers to extend and customise the tool. The response from the developer community was immediate and overwhelming, validating our thesis that terminal tooling was ready for a modern reinvention.

What Made It Different

Unlike traditional file managers, Superfile was built with speed and simplicity at its core. Every interaction is keyboard-first, every panel is configurable, and the entire experience is designed to stay out of your way. Developers could be productive within minutes of installation.

The Road Ahead

The launch was just the beginning. With strong early adoption and community feedback already shaping our roadmap, the Superfile team was energised to accelerate development and bring even more powerful features to the terminal.
